This year, visitors can view cannon firing, take canal boat rides, or experience historic interpreters. Period music, a marketplace and children's games, and special exhibits are but a few of the highlights available throughout the city. Visit the Virginia State Capitol, Valentine Richmond History Center, Museum of the Confederacy, and Library of Virginia. Guided tours of the Richmond Slave Trail, Belle Isle, and Brown's Island will be offered. Or, take the 10K "Liberty Walk," or sign up for the Richmond Adventure Race.
This year, the Boulevard Campus — a new addition in 2011 — will again offer guided tours of the United Daughters of the Confederacy's General Headquarters, the Confederate Chapel, and the Virginia Historical Society. Formerly the grounds of the R. E. Lee Camp No. 1--Confederate Soldier's Home (later the Confederate Memorial Park), the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts campus offers interpretive signage describing this history. Self-guided tours will be available along with Civil War art on display in the Museum's McGlothlin American Art Galleries. Hop off the shuttle at the Science Museum of Virginia and tour the "RACE: Are we so different?" exhibit.
